Business management careers are found in all the sectors of manufacturing, processing, services, etc. To understand the career opportunities in the field of business management, lets divide the occupations as follows-

Primary sector of occupation- These are basically industry structures which convert the raw materials into finished products which are not directly utilized by the general public or consumers. This type of industry manufactures raw materials for many other secondary industries. This sector involves quite a good percentage of involvement of the candidates from the field of business management. The activities like mining, processing of raw cotton by cottage industry for textile industry, manufacturing of parts of a machine, etc…, are such sectors. These sectors require effective planning, and strategies need to be planned well and implemented with suitable techniques too. These products may also require effective marketing and publicity, thus the candidates from business management backgrounds have good scope in this field.

However, there are large number engineers, workers are employed in this field and the numbers of candidate who can sneak in through these industries are very few.

Secondary sector of occupation- These are industry structures which process the goods from primary sector or industries to the consumers. They provide ‘form utility’ to the product that is they convert the raw resources into their usable form. They deal with providing necessary products and equipment directly to consumers. This field may require little of statics knowledge as sales of future years needs to be predicted through various methods. Also, setting up priorities based on certain criteria is also essential. This field involves lot of decision making and planning procedures and thus, there develops a huge scope for technical and the talented skillful candidates.

However, this field does not employ candidates from the field of business management intensively. Thus, these fields are not enough to support the candidates from the field of business management. Also, the top salaries are generally provided in these sectors because these sectors deal with big investment, big turn over, and heavy profits in their peak times. Thus, the candidates with lot of extraordinary and diversified qualifications make most of the opportunities presented in these fields.

Tertiary sector of occupation- These are basically service sectors. They actually deal with more of skill work rather than physical and intensive labor type of work. However, they may be dependent directly or indirectly on them. This sector provides a direct link between the primary and secondary and to the consumers. The primary and secondary sectors, both are dependent on tertiary sector’s services to flourish. The services of tertiary sector include transport facilities, banking and insurance, technological facilities, connectivity with water, electricity, and roads, consultancy services for recruitment, outsourcing, organization development, etc…. This sector involves the candidates from the business management field immensely. This sector’s boom in recent times has developed huge opportunities in the field of business management.

However, this sector does not provide candidates with large amount of salaries which might lead to dissatisfaction of the candidates. And sometimes the candidates may be underpaid. But, this sector is growing big and development is due for both the candidates as well as the field.
